Allied Plastics Honored by Society of Plastics Engineers
Propeller Case Won Silver at 2016 SPE Thermoforming Conference
We are very excited to share that Allied Plastics won the Silver Award in the Heavy-Gauge, Value-Added category at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Conference this year. The conference took place in Schaumburg, Illinois, from September 26-28, 2016, and we couldn’t be more proud of our team!
Durable Thermoformed Plastic Solution
We won thanks to our Plastic Thermoform Case Assembly for a Marine Propeller. In order to properly protect the propeller, our engineers went from a Thermoplastic single-sheet to a twin-sheet case. The twin-sheet case was formed with high molecular weight polyethylene, on a two-cavity, water-cooled aluminum mould. The propeller was secured with a nylon dowel and receiver. High-density foam was used in between the pro hub and the top cover which is mounted on the dowel. Then four steel locking caps were used to fasten the top and bottom parts of the Vacuum Formed case together.
All of us at Allied Plastics is proud of this recognition of ingenuity and innovation from SPE which is highly respected in the Thermoforming industry. Read the full list of award winners.
